Metering and solar power Solar power and metering management – a strong combination

Installing solar panels on your building is a significant investment that you want to get the highest possible return from. A metering management solution will help you with this. The produced electricity can be used by all units in the building – including shops, offices, and common facilities. Any surplus electricity is forwarded to the grid owner, and you are compensated for it.

At VENI Metering, we are committed to exploring new possibilities and turn them into value for our customers. Through a solution where we combine solar power and metering management, we have delivered extra value in a number of commercial buildings and shopping centers.

With your own solar production, you get both lower electricity costs and a higher share of renewable power in your energy mix. In addition, you want to use this extra power supply in an optimal way. With our metering management solution, all electricity consumption is gathered behind one and the same utility meter. This provides several benefits. Electricity produced by the solar panel system will be managed by this meter and distributed to your tenants and other premises in the building. This will help ensure that the solar power is used as much as possible within your own property. With the same meter, you can also handle any surplus electricity. It can be sent to your grid provider, which will then compensate you for it.

Use solar power when you have it

Unlike regular power supplied from outside, your solar power will produce ‘unevenly’ depending on sun and weather conditions. Therefore, it is important to consider what it can be used for when production is high. For example, you can assume that the solar panels will have a production peak during daytime in the summer months. This coincides with the highest need for cooling in the building. You can then direct the use of solar power towards this purpose. Metering management will help you do this distribution.

Solar energy on the rise

Today, fossil energy production is being scaled down in favor of renewable energy sources in large parts of the world. In line with this, the use of solar panels is increasing significantly in Europe, especially in the business market. An advantage is that impacts the physical environment less than other renewable energy sources such as water and wind. The challenge of uneven production is now being met by increasingly better storage solutions, including batteries and hydrogen production.
